A soldier shot himself dead with his service rifle on Sunday in Jaamu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, police said.
The soldier, who killed himself in Pahalgam area, has been identified as Narendra R, of Karnataka, police said.
"An FIR has been registered in the incident," a police officer said.
