Sonia Gandhi pays homage to Ambedkar

Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday paid homage to Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 61st death anniversary (Mahaparinirvan Divas).

"Ambedkarite idea of social justice and equality is a powerful weapon of unity and social justice. His life and struggle shaped the destiny of independent India," Gandhi said.

Describing Babasaheb's contribution in shaping the Constitution, she called for "defending and preserving the idea of India as also the principles of equity and social justice that are the lifeline of the Constitution".
