One more death from infection from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in South Korea was reported on Thursday, taking the total toll to 10, the health ministry said.
The 83rd patient, 65, passed away on Thursday afternoon as he was already suffering from terminal lung cancer, according to the ministry of health and welfare.
The 65-year-old man caught the virus from the 16th patient at the Konyang University Hospital in the central city of Daejeon, and was tested positive on June 7, Xinhua news agency reported.
MERS infections in South Korea totalled 122 as of Thursday as 14 new cases were added. The first case was found on May 20.
Meanwhile, three confirmed patients were released from hospitals as they tested negative twice. The number of hospital discharges increased to seven with the three new discharges.
