Spanish tennis player Carla Suarez on Thursday advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women's Stuttgart Open, defeating Russia's Elena Vesnina.

World No.25 Suarez needed one hour and 25 minutes to defeat World No.14 Vesnina 6-2, 6-4, reports Efe.

The Spaniard could face World No.2 and Stuttgart's reigning champion Angelique Kerber in the quarterfinals if the German beats World No.19 French Kristina Mladenovic later in the day.
