A major tragedy was averted on Friday when a Spicejet flight with 53 people aboard collided with an animal while landing here, the airline said.
"The Spice Jet flight SG 2458 from Mumbai to Jabalpur collided with an wild animal on the runway while landing," the spokesperson said in a statement, adding that 49 passengers and four crew members aboard were safe.
As per details available with the carrier, the aircraft swirled to the left and was off the runway after being hit. In the process, the aircraft's main and the nose landing gear collapsed.
