DMK President M.K. Stalin on Monday demanded action against those who beat to death 15-year-old P. Balasubramani for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
In a statement issued here, Stalin said the killing of the boy, who belonged to Tamil Nadu's Karur district, is condemnable and not acceptable in a civilised society.
On Saturday night, five persons, on the suspicion that Balasubramani had stolen the cell phone and cash, tied him to a pole and beat him with a log, said police.
The gang untied the boy and left the place. The boy swooned and later died allegedly due to injuries suffered due to the beatings, police said.
Stalin said the accused boys should be brought to book and admitted to reform schools. The law does not permit anybody to kill.
