A state of disaster was declared in the US state of Texas after it was hit by huge rains resulting in floods, the media reported on Tuesday.
The state of disaster that was declared by Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Monday, covers nearly 20 counties including Angelina, Harrison, Liberty and Madison, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Texas governor said the state is assisting with evacuations in three Texas counties and stands ready to assist in swift water rescues.
State officials of Texas and Louisiana were considering closure of highway Interstate 10 near the state line on Tuesday morning.
Last week, heavy rains forced the evacuation of hundreds of people in East Texas, as floodwaters rose in many Gulf Coast states.
Over the past few days, two fishermen went missing in Mississippi; three people were killed in Louisiana and another person died in Oklahoma as a result of the natural disaster.
