Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Saturday said the Congress high command has decided to maintain status quo in the party and government in the state and asked all to work unitedly to complete the regime's programme and prepare for next year's Lok Sabha polls.

"We are all governed by our high command and they have decided to maintain status quo in both government and the party here," said Chandy to reporters after returning from New Delhi.

For the past one week, the top brass of the party in Kerala was stay put in Delhi trying to work out a suitable posting for state party chief Ramesh Chennithala in Chandy's cabinet.

But things did not go the way Chennithala wanted as the Chandy faction was not willing to accommodate him as home minister and as a result, his request to continue as state party chief was accepted by the high command.

"Now we all will work united for completing our government's programmes and also get ready for the Lok Sabha polls," said Chandy.

However, Chennithala's faction appeared to be upset at the outcome of the discussions in Delhi and openly expressed their dissatisfaction.

"We in the Congress party are amazed in the discussions that takes place in the parties of our allies, whereas in our party, all things at the moment appear to be decided by a few," said party leader K.P.Anil Kumar, considered a close aide of Chennithala.
