Stoke City have been relegated from the English Premier League (EPL) after losing to Crystal Palace 1-2 on Saturday.
Crystal Palace, who suffered seven consecutive defeats at the beginning of the season, secured their safety with the victory, reports Xinhua news agency.
Stoke, who have one game remaining, became the first team to be relegated this season even though they are standing second from the bottom with 30 points.
Bottom side West Bromwich, who have two games in hand, will also be relegated if they fail to beat Tottenham in a later game on Saturday.
Xherdan Shaquiri gave Stoke a slim chance to survive as he opened the scoring in the 43rd minute but James McArthur and Patrick van Aanholt cancelled out the hosts' lead with two second-half goals.
