Sao Paulo, June 20, (EFE) Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez ended all doubts about his knee injury after securing his side's 2-1 win over England in the Group D second round.
"I have struggled to come back from my injury (surgery to the meniscus in his knee)," the 27-year-old, who scored a brace Thursday, was quoted as saying by sports daily As.
"We gave it our all and we have responded to the criticism. Now we need to rest and then enjoy this win. But scoring two goals like this, in what was a final, I have dreamt of this. It is so beautiful," he added.
Suarez also praised his team mate Edinson Cavani who set up the first goal in the 39th minute.
