Punjabi pop singer Jasbir Jassi and Pakistani classical singer Shafqat Amanat Ali, among others, will perform here at a Punjabi festival beginning April 25, the organisers said Tuesday.
The three-day "Punjabi Mela" is presented by the Punjabi Academy and Delhi government's art, culture and languages department, as part of the Baisakhi celebrations.
Apart from music, the cultural carnival will also display artefacts from Punjabi lifestyle, dominated by their traditional art of 'phulkari' and offering rich delicacies.
"We aim to recreate the atmosphere of a Punjabi village and its vibrant culture through music, artefacts and rich cuisine," Punjabi Academy's secretary Jawahar Dhawan said in a statement .
"We hope to keep alive many of these traditions through such festival," he added.
The event will take place at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts.
