Automobile manufacturer Tata Motors Monday unveiled two new passenger car vehciles -- Zest compact sedan and premium hatchback Bolt.

"These cars have been engineered for global markets, through global teams across India, UK and Korea to set new standards in their respective segments,"said Ranjit Yadav, president, passenger vehicles, Tata Motors.

The company said the new vehicles would be launched in 2014 in India and subsequently in other countries. Both the vehicles are based on the company's X1 platform on which Vista and Manza models are built.

Both the vehicles will be powered by the segment-first, turbocharged intercooled multi-point fuel-injected (MPFi) petrol engine, 'REVOTRON' 1.2T.

The diesel variant for Zest will, meanwhile, be powered by 'F-Tronic' technology-enabled 90PS engine which will be mated to a five-speed automated manual transmission system.

The vehicles are also equipped with EPAS (electronic power assisted system), with 'active return' function and speed sensitive power steering. Other features include new advanced ABS (anti-lock breaking system) and cornering stability feature.

According to the company, the new vehicles are a result of collaborative design inputs from the three Tata Motors' design studios in Pune, Coventry (UK) and Turin (Italy).
