Chelsea captain John Terry says he would want to continue proving his doubters wrong by playing a few more years following his ever-present English Premier League (EPL) title winning season.

The 34-year-old featured in every minute of Chelsea's 38 Premier League games last season, playing a lead role in securing his fourth winners medal.

Terry's ability to deal with the club's hectic schedule has been questioned in recent years; by none more than former team manager Rafa Benitez, who insisted the defender could no longer play two games a week.

"Firstly I was delighted to play every single minute of the Premier League season. Especially as at my age you tend to get written off as well. So it was nice on a personal note to play in all of the games," Terry was quoted as saying by dailymail.co.uk on Saturday.

However, the veteran defender insisted the thought of retirement hasn't even entered his mind as he looks to prolong his playing career.

"I don't know what my fitness is down to, but the manager and the staff played a big part in the way we train. I feel I've also benefited from the couple days rest during the international breaks," the former England football team captain said.

"So the manager and staff deserve a lot of credit, and me also for staying fit and keeping my form and place in the side.

"I am hoping that is going to continue for a few more years yet. I am hoping to finish my career at Chelsea and I hope I can do that under this manager," Terry concluded.

Chelsea are presently on a pot-season tour to Australia.
