Three youths have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 17-year-old girl in Assam, police said Sunday.
The three were arrested in Dibrugarh district late Saturday on the girl's complaint. Police are on the lookout for the fourth accused in the crime.
The investigating officer said the age of the accused is not known yet.
The incident took place late Saturday near the Banipur railway station in Dibrugarh town.
Accompanied by a boy, the girl was dropped by an auto-rickshaw near the railway station.
"Four youths caught hold of them and raped her after beating up the boy," said a senior police official.
The victims stopped a police patrol car near the railway station around 11.15 p.m. and complained that four youths had raped her and physically assaulted the boy, police said.
Officials said the girl was sent for medical examination and the report was awaited.
