At least three children were killed and their parents were wounded when mortar shells slammed a neighbourhood in Syria, media reported Sunday.
The mortars slammed a house at the al-Ruwad neighbourhood of Deir al-Zour province, killing the three children and injuring their parents while they were preparing for breakfast in the holy month of Ramadan, the official SANA news agency reported.
The mother of the three children killed is in critical condition.
Large swathes of the oil-rich Deir al-Zour on the borders with Iraq have spiralled out of the government control over the past year.
