Three die as balcony collapses in UP

Three persons were killed on Saturday evening when the balcony of a house collapsed amid preparations for a wedding at Patai Khaas village in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

A tent was being erected to accommodate the wedding guests when the overcrowded balcony collapsed. Five persons were buried under the rubble.

While three died on the spot, two were rescued and have been admitted to a nearby medical facility.

Senior police and district officials rushed to the spot to oversee rescue and relief operations. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
