Three tourists drowned while bathing in the sea in East Midnapore district's coastal region in West Bengal on Saturday, police said.
The incident took place in Mandarmani. The body of Sumantra Banerjee, 32, an inhabitant of Newtown in Kolkata, was recovered by the coast guards while his two companions are still missing.
According to police sources, they are also feared dead.
"They (the tourists) came to Mandarmani in a group of 12. Three of them went missing while bathing in the sea. The rescue operation is on to trace the other two," said Partha Biswas, Sub-inspector of Mandarmani coastal police station.
