Three soldiers of the NATO-led coalition forces were killed Sunday in an attack by insurgents in Afghanistan, an official statement from the coalition said.

"Three International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service members died following an enemy attack in east Afghanistan today (Sunday)," the ISAF said in the statement.

However, the statement gave neither the nationalities of the victims nor the details about the incident as per the ISAF policy.

Troops, mostly from the US, have been stationed in Afghanistan's eastern region within the framework of ISAF to curb Taliban-linked insurgency there.

Casualties of Sunday's attack have brought the number of foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan to 117 this year.
