Three held for molesting girl in Bengal

Three youths were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a Class 12 girl in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, police said.

"A 17-year-old-girl was allegedly molested by some of her friends in an empty house in South 24 Parganas, Sonarpur, on Tuesday evening. Three youths, aged between 20-25 years, have been arrested today," an officer from Sonarpur police station said.

"She has been admitted to the hospital. She has several external injury marks on her body," he said.

According to the family members of the victim, the girl left her house for tuition on Tuesday but did not return home. She was later recovered at one of the youth's house in an unconscious state.

"We came to know that she fell unconscious after eating something at a friend's house. But when we got there we saw she was in a bad condition. It is evident that she was physically tortured," the sister of the victim said.

The police said the three accused would be produced in court later while the other members present during the incident would be questioned.
