Saudi Arabian police have arrested three Indian expatriate teachers for giving private tuitions here, a media report said.

Police raided the house of three Indian teachers, employed with the International Indian School, Riyadh (IISR), and found them with students gathered for private tuitions, the Arab News reported Tuesday.

Mehboob Pasha from Karnataka, Mohammad Rifai from Tamil Nadu and Tauheed Ahmad Siddiquee from Uttar Pradesh were taken to the Tarheel (deportation centre) jail, eyewitnesses said.

According to the report, the IISR school management has called on an urgent meeting over the incident.

The school's public relations officer has been asked to bail out the teachers, sources said.

Private tuition is illegal and punishable in Saudi Arabia.

IISR is one of the largest Indian schools in Saudi Arabia with close to 10,000 students.
