Four people were arrested Tuesday in Odisha's Koraput district with 654 kg of cannabis, a police official said.
Dharumu Nayak, Govinda Rana, Arakhita Majhi and Dasarathi Mishra were arrested during a raid in Semiliguda town, over 500 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar, Inspector General of Police (south-western range) Yashwant Jethwa told IANS.
Police have seized 654 kg of cannabis, locally known as ganja, along with a mini truck, he said.
The residents in remote tribal areas illegally cultivate cannabis on forest land belonging to the government, and smuggle it to other states.
