At least three members of a family, including a seven-month old female child, sustained serious burn injuries when unidentified assailants threw acid on them at their house in Haryana's Sonipat town, police said.
The injured, Baldev Singh, a mechanic, his wife Karamjit Kaur and daughter Khushpreet Kaur, have been admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak where their condition is stated to be critical, said police officials in Sonipat, 180 km from here.
The attack took place early Sunday when the family was sleeping in their house on the Debru Road. The assailants sneaked into the house and fled after throwing the acid on them.
Police took the three victims to a nearby hospital.
