Three persons have killed when a small plane crashed near the German city of Frankfurt, the media reported.

The six-seat plane came down on Sunday near Egelsbach, 22 km south of Frankfurt, and then caught fire, according to a police spokesman. German air traffic control said the plane had departed from Cannes, France, Xinhua reported.

"On March 31, 2019, S7 Airlines shareholder Natalia Fileva was killed at the age of 55 during the descent in a private Epic-LT plane to (a) Frankfurt airport. The cause of the tragedy is not yet known," Russia's S7 Airlines said in a statement.

A police car, while rushing to the scene of the plane crash, collided with another car, which caused three occupants in the police car injured and two dead in the other car.

Russian news agency Sputnik reported that Natalia Fileva, the co-owner of the S7 Airlines, died in the plane crash.

"Natalia Valeryevna and her father have died. They were flying to Germany for medical treatment," the source said, denying that S7 Director General Vladislav Filev, Natalia's spouse, was on the plane.

The source said all three people on board, including the pilot, were Russian nationals, Sputnik reported.
