Three Maoists surrendered and two others were arrested in two districts of Jharkhand on Friday, police said.
Three Maoists surrendered before police in Simdega district of the state. They were given a cheque of Rs 50,000 each as per the surrender policy of the state.
Two Maoists were arrested from Amjhari Mode in Dumka district with Rs 4 lakh in cash which they had collected as 'levy'.
The arrested Maoists have been identified as Dinesh Kumar Mandal and his associate Ravindra Kumar Mandal.
According to the police the duo had collected the levy for Maoist commander Jagdish Da alias Mota alias Mochu but were arrested before they could deliver the money.
Maoists are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
