Actor Tom Hanks has donned the hat of a writer to pen the script of upcoming World War II drama "Greyhound", which will be directed by Aaron Schneider. Hanks might also star in the film.
Gary Goetzman, Hanks's longtime producing partner at Playtone Pictures, will produce the film, reports variety.com.
Hanks would portray a career officer given command of a Navy destroyer -- named "Greyhound" -- who has to deal with combat enemies and his own self doubts.
Hanks has previously worked as a writer for films like "Larry Crowne" and "That Thing You Do!".
On the silver screen, Hanks will next be seen in "Inferno", which also stars Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan.
