Top nuclear envoys for six-party talks to dismantle North Korea's nuclear programme will gather in Seoul this week to discuss cooperation in the region, Seoul's foreign ministry said on Monday.
Top delegates to the six-way dialogue from China, the US, Russia and Japan will take part in the multilateral forum on the Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation Initiative scheduled to be held in Seoul on Wednesday, Xinhua quoted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying.
Seoul's foreign ministry asked Pyongyang to participate in the multilateral forum, but there has been no response from Pyongyang till Monday.
The initiative is one of South Korean President Park Geun-hye's core foreign policies, which seek to build trust by first cooperating in the region on soft issues, like environment, disaster management and nuclear power safety, and expand cooperation into broader areas.
