A speeding train crushed a 40-year-old woman and her seven-year-old daughter near the Dasna jail here Monday.
Police said the woman was on her way to meet her husband, Mohammad Iliyas, an inmate at the Dasna prison, with her daughter when the incident took place.
The woman was crossing a railway crossing on foot when she saw a goods train from Delhi approaching her.
As the mother and daughter jumped on another track, they were crushed by the Garib Rath train and cut to pieces, a police officer said.
The deceased were identified as Faiyaz, a mother of seven, and Nidha. They were residents of Dasna town in Ghaziabad, Government Railway Police officer Pankaj Lawania said.
