A 26-year old tribal woman was found lying injured and unconscious in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district with police suspecting she was "gang-raped". A person has been arrested, an officer said Wednesday.
The woman was found outside Moraghat forest in Binnaguri town in the district, some 660 km from Kolkata, and is currently recuperating in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri.
"We found the victim injured and lying unconscious outside Moraghat forest. There is evidence to suggest that she was sexually assaulted by more than one person. We have arrested a man on suspicion," said Jalpaiguri's Superintendent of Police Amit Javalgi.
"We are looking for others involved in the crime and also waiting for the victim to recover so that we may get more details," he added.
