Two persons have been arrested for shooting a man dead in a Delhi market in June, police said on Thursday.
Sunil Basoya, 35, and Sandeep Tyagi, 26, were arrested on Wednesday by a team of Delhi Police's special cell "wind" -- an anti-terror unit -- from east Delhi's Dilshad Garden area on a tip-off.
Kailash Gupta, 45, was shot dead in indiscriminate firing that left four others, including Gupta's son, injured in east Delhi's Bhajanpura area on June 21. Another person was hit by the car in which the assailants escaped from the crime scene.
"The preliminary interrogation of the accused revealed that they were running a gang in the National Capital Region (NCR). They were pressurising Kailash Gupta to withdraw the murder case against them for killing his son Vishal a year ago," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P.S. Kushwaha said.
The officer said that Vishal was assaulted by Sunil and his accomplices Anil Kana, Anuj and Neeraj -- all residents of Ghaziababad in Uttar Pradesh -- on April 4, 2015, leading to his death during treatment.
"Former Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi had declared a bounty of Rs 20,000 for the arrest of Sunil," the officer added.
The officer said that Sandeep Tyagi, who began his career as an agent for ICICI bank, got associated with betting operators and joined the gang. "He had recently shot at his wife and in-laws over a matrimonial dispute."
