Two criminals arrested after gun battle in Ghaziabad

Police arrested two criminals after an overnight gun battle in Ghaziabad.

Crime Branch officials and police personnel from Sihani Gate were on patrol on Sunday night. When the police initiated vehicular checking, two men fled.

When the police gave them a chase, they opened fire. The police retaliated, wounding the two. A police constable also sustained bullet injuries in the encounter. He was admitted to the Kailash Hospital where he was stated to be out of danger.

The two criminals, taken to state-run MMG Hospital, identified themselves as Suraj and Ranvir. They two were stated to be out of danger, Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said.

A screening of their police record showed that over a dozen criminal cases of dacoity, loot and murder were registered against them in Sonipat in Haryana and Baghpat and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
