Two greenfield Electronic Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) will come up in Hyderabad at a cost of Rs.940 crore with the central government clearing the proposal, said a state minister Monday.
Information and Communication Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah told reporters Monday that the steering committee on clusters of the central government's department of electronics and Information Technology gave in-principle approval for the two EMCs.
The first cluster will come up at eCity on the outskirts of Hyderabad in an area of 602 acres at a cost of Rs.580 crore.
The Electronics Industries Association of Andhra Pradesh has committed to invest major part of the estimated Rs.1,800 crore investment in this EMC.

The second EMC is expected to attract an investment of Rs.800 crore and create direct employment for 14,000 people, besides indirect employment for 84,000.
The minister said the government was to trying to attract investment from industry associations like Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA) and Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology (MAIT).
Lakshmaiah said the proposal for setting up a third EMC at Parawada in Visakhapatnam ovet 100 acres was under the consideration of the central government.
