Two persons have been arrested here for stabbing a woman over a dozen times after she resisted advances of one of them, police said on Thursday.

Police said accused Amit, 25, and his cousin Basant, 19, are residents of Najafgarh in outer Delhi. Amit's father is a Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police.

He was in one-sided love with his friend's sister 21-year-old Anita, a teacher. He is presently unemployed and got married three months ago.

Though Amit was married, he was forcing Anita to establish physical relations and marry him, following which she complained to her mother, which infuriated him, police said.

"Police arrested Amit and Basant late Wednesday night," Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishi Pal said

Amit, along with his cousin, Basant on purchased two knives on Wednesday morning and visited Anita's residence. When he came to know Rohit was at home, he called him to meet outside, the police officer said.

They barged into Anita's residence taking advantage of Rohit's absence and stabbed her multiple times and escaped, he said.

Anita was later found by her younger sister in a pool of blood and was rushed to a near-by hospital. She was later referred to the Safdarjung Hospital where her condition is said to be critical, DCP Pal said.
