Two senior commanders of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) were killed in Syria, according to the IRGC website.
Colonel Farshad Hasounizadeh and Hamid Mokhtarband were killed by the "terrorists" during military advisory mission in Syria, the announcement read, but did not specify the time when they were killed.
Last week, IRGC General Hossein Hamedani was also killed by the militants of the Islamic State (IS) in Syria. He was serving in Syria as both an adviser to the Syrian government and as an overseer for operations of the pro-Syrian army forces.
Iran, the staunchest regional ally of the Syrian government, was said to have been sending military advisers and training Shiite militants to fight alongside the Syrian forces in the face of Jihadi groups in the war-torn country.
