Two more people were arrested on Friday by the CID in connection with the sensational child trafficking case in West Bengal, an official said.
"Mrinal Ghosh, the District Child Protection Officer from Darjeeling and Debasish Chanda, a member of Darjeeling Child Welfare Committee, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the Jalpaiguri child trafficking case," a senior CID official said.
Chanda was also also a panel doctor of Jalpaiguri-based Bimala Sishu Griho, the child adoption centre that allegedly worked as a hub of child trafficking.
The CID sleuths earlier arrested four more people including BJP women wing leader Juhi Chowdhury, Chandana Chakraborty, the chairperson of the accused child adoption centre, Chief Adoption Officer Sonali Mondal and fellow accused Manas Bhowmik in the last two weeks for selling at least 17 children through shady adoption deals.
