The UAE on Tuesday congratulated Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on clinching the nuclear deal in exchange for a gradual lifting of economic sanctions.
United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan expressed hope that the agreement will contribute to regional security and stability, Xinhua reported citing UAE's WAM news agency.
Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, and Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent similar cables to the Iranian president.
Iran and the UAE are historically close trading partners and expect to expand bilateral economic ties once sanctions are fully lifted by the UN, the US and the European Union.
