An undertrial, lodged at Dasna jail here, died Thursday while being taken to a hospital after complaining of chest pain, authorities said.

At about 4.00 a.m. Thursday, the inmate was rushed to the jail hospital and later to the district MMG Hospital after he complained of chest pain. He was, however, declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

The jail's superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma said the prisoner, Karamvir Singh, was in jail since Sep 23, 2011. He was undergoing trial for a murder case.

A judicial magisterial inquiry has been ordered in the death, added the superintendent of the jail.
