English football team Manchester United will offer its star striker Robin van Persie five million pounds to quit the club at the end of the current season.
The 31-year-old moved to Manchester United back in 2012 when the Dutchman was bought for 24 million pounds from Arsenal, reports The Mail on Sunday.
He is currently under contract at United until June 2016, but rumours have been rife of late that the club wants to sell the forward at the end of the season.
It's been a tough year for van Persie, who has not played since the February 21 due to an ankle injury.
In total this campaign, Van Persie has scored 10 English Premier League goals in 24 appearances.
Van Persie is now thought to be surplus to requirements at the club and they want to get his 200,000 pound-a-week contract off their books for the next season.
United officials are understood to be willing to pay the remaining half of a 10 million pound loyalty bonus, agreed when he signed from Arsenal in 2012, to free up wages for another striker.
Italian clubs Juventus, Inter Milan and Lazio are all potential suitors for van Persie this summer.
