Uttar Pradesh is eyeing a Guinness World Record by planting 10 lakh saplings on a single day on Saturday, an official said on Friday.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav would kick-start the plantation drive from Maudaha dam in Hamirpur.
The saplings would be planted at nine places across the state, including Sonebhadra, Lalitpur, Mirzapur, Farukkhabad, Chitrakoot, Gautam Buddh Nagar and Shrawasti. In Lakhimpur, two places have been identified for the plantation drive. In Mirzapur, 'waterman' Rajendra Singh would participate in the drive.
The Guinness World Records presently lists 8.50 lakh plantations in a single day.
