The Uttar Pradesh government and the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for gas distribution projects.
As per the agreement, the two sides will prepare a new project plan for gas infrastructure and distribution as a result of which households in Allahabad will get piped gas in the next 18 months. Work has begun on the city gas project.
A joint team will be formed to prepare a plan for quick implementation of city gas projects in other cities of the state also.
Principal Secretary for Infrastructure and Industrial Development Sanjiv Saran said: "Under this MoU, new pipelines will be laid and CNG stations will be opened under city gas projects."
