The Uttar Pradesh government has identified 22 conventional bus stations across the state that will be developed into 'smart' bus stations having cyber cafes, hotels, restaurants and shopping centres, an official said on Thursday.

Revealing the plan, state principal secretary for transport and Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) chairman Praveer Kumar said the 22 bus stations are in tourist centres and divisional headquarters.

"Under this policy, bus stands in NCR cities would also be included. The smart bus stands would house cyber cafes, hotels, restaurants and shopping centres," he said.

Under this policy, the cost would be shared 50-50 by the state and the Centre.
