Delhi Metro Friday shut two stations due to a protest by UPSC aspirants, inconveniencing commuters.

The two stations are Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan -- both on Delhi Metro's yellow line.

"As advised by Delhi Police, the Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations are closed for the public from 12.45 p.m. until further advice," a Delhi Metro official said.

"However, interchange facilities are available at the Central Secretariat station," the official added.

Delhi Police said they had instructed the Delhi Metro to keep a tab on the situation.

"They (Delhi Metro) are taking action as per their discretion," a police official said.

More than 500 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirants have been protesting in central and north Delhi, demanding the scrapping of Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), calling it discriminatory against those with Hindi background. The CSAT is a compulsory part of the civil services examination acting as a screening test before the main examination.
