The Telangana government has alloted land for construction of permanent building of US consulate here, an official release said Saturday.
The land has been allotted in Financial District, Nanakramguda village in neighboring Ranga Reddy district. The consulate is currently functioning in a leased building in Begumpet in the city.
A tripartite lease deed for allocating the land was executed Saturday by the Telangana state government, the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) and US consulate, said the release.
Principal Secretary, General Administration (Political) Ajay Mishra, TSIIC vice chairman and managing director E. Venkat Narasimha Reddy and US Consul General Michael C. Mullins signed the agreement.
Mullins said the construction of facility will be taken up soon.
