US-based process automation services provider Emerson Process Management (EPM) said on Monday it has acquired Pune-based gear manufacturer Ameya Transmissions to provide end-to-end product line offering for its customers.
"Emerson acquired Pune-based Ameya Transmissions, manufacturer of gear operators and gearboxes, to give it an even stronger end-to-end product line offering for customers, including the actuation of manual valves via gears," Emerson said in a statement here.
"This acquisition complements Emerson Process Management's Final Control technologies used primarily in the oil and gas and power industries both domestically and globally," it added.
Ameya Transmissions develops and manufactures a wide range of gear operators, including quarter-turn and multi-turn manual gearboxes, which are supplied to the manual valve industry.
"The company has supplied nearly one million gear boxes to the valve industry in India since 1993," the statement said.
Ameya products are also exported to many countries.
"This acquisition strengthens our portfolio with the addition of a strong gearbox product platform that enhances our current solutions capabilities for customers in India and around the world," said EPM managing director Amit Paithankar.
"This deal makes great sense for both companies. Our businesses complement each other and we have the opportunity to grow even further because of Emerson's global reach and commitment to excellence," said Ameya Transmissions co-founder Rohan Pai.
