US special envoy for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad met Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi here on Friday after holding delegation-level talks on the Afghan peace process.
The delegation-level talks between Pakistan and the US were held at the Foreign Office. The Pakistani delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua while Khalilzad led the visiting team, Geo News reported.
Khalilzad will also hold separate meetings with the top civil and military leadership during his visit to the country.
A day earlier, the US Afghan peace envoy said relations between the US and Pakistan would not improve until Islamabad reconsiders its policies pertaining to Kabul.
US President Donald Trump's special envoy was travelling from Kabul where he held discussions with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and other prominent leaders on "joint efforts to meet the Afghan peoples' compelling desire for peace".
Meanwhile, Tolo News reported that the US envoy supported an agreement between Islamabad and Kabul based on which Pakistan should play a constructive role in Afghanistan.
