Kolkata based wire rope and steel bar maker Usha Martin Ltd. (UML) on Monday said it has received "formal communication" from coal authorities for allocation of Brinda and Sasai coal blocks in Jharkhand in favour of the company.
"The company has received formal communication from the Nominated Authority for allocation of Brinda and Sasai Coal block in favour of the company," it said in a regulatory filing with the National Stock Exchange.
In the coal auctions involving 33 coal blocks, the central government was re-examining nine including the bids for Brinda and Sasai.
Bidding for the two blocks opened at Rs.1,802 a tonne and closed at Rs.1,804 per tonne, which led the Centre to reconsider the auction.
The two blocks have a total extractable reserve of 25.40 million tonnes. Company officials could not be reached for their comments.
