American supernatural horror film "The Vatican Tapes", said to be based on true events, will release in Indian theatres on July 31.
The film, which is being released in the country by Multivision Multimedia Pvt Ltd, features American actors Djimon Hounsou, Dougray Scott, Michael Pena and Kathleen Robertson, who will be seen as the leading lady in the movie.
The plot of the horror-thriller revolves around a priest and two Vatican exorcists who must battle with an ancient satanic force to save the soul of a young woman.
"Horror has always been a favourite among Indian audiences. While the trend is on the upswing here in Bollywood, the market for movies like 'Vatican Tapes' is ever-expanding. We have already seen a couple of success stories from the genre this year," Sunil Udhani, distribution head, Multivision Multimedia Pvt Ltd, said in a statement.
