Production banner Viacom18 Motion Pictures have joined hands with actor-producer John Abraham and filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah to present the upcoming action thriller film "Force 2".

"Viacom18 Motion Pictures and I share a long standing association and because of their faith in the action genre, me and Vipul are looking forward to building this franchise with them," John, who is currently busy shooting for the film, said in a statement.

Talking about the association, Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, said: "In line with our intent to build sequel films, we have collaborated with John and Vipul to reboot 'Force' franchise.

"While storytelling has been a strength for Hindi films, the strides in production technique and scale now offers an opportunity to make an action film for the contemporary Hindi film audience. We look forward to a strong reboot with Vipul which will pave the way for further sequels," Andhare added.

John says the success of the first part which released in 2011 gave him faith to build on the franchise.

"'Force' as a film is extremely close to my heart and its success gave me the faith to build on the franchise. I am excited about the way 'Force 2' is shaping up as we are trying to increase the creativity not only in our storytelling but also with power-packed action sequences," he said.

Apart from John, "Force", which was directed by Nishikanth Kamath, also starred Genelia Deshmukh, Vidyut Jamwal and Raj Babbar.

"Force 2", which will feature Sonakshi Sinha, Paras Arora and Tahir Raj Bhasin in pivotal roles, will be directed by Abhinay Deo.

"'Force 2' is going to be one of the most awaited action thrillers of 2016," Shah said.

"International locations, high-octane action sequences and the never seen before mystifying chemistry between John and Sonakshi is something the audiences will have to look forward to. All in all, this addition to the Force franchise is going to leave the viewer's wanting more," Shah said.
