Tamil superstar Vijay's upcoming Tamil action film "Mersal" will be the first south Indian film to get an emoji on Twitter.

Vijay announced the news on his Twitter account on Friday.

"'Mersal' emoji from tomorrow. All the songs to have the emoji as well," Vijay posted.

Directed by Atlee, "Mersal" features Vijay in a triple role -- as a Panchayat head, a doctor and a magician.

His Panchayat head avatar has been turned into an emoji character.

Slated to hit the screens this Diwali, the film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and SJ Suryah.
