Formalities for issuance of visa for Afghan nationals have been increased by India as some citizens of neighbouring countries also possess the Afghan passport.
Afghan Foreign Affairs Minister Salahuddin Rabbani said the issue has become a matter of concern for the Indian embassy in Kabul.
Without elaborating further on which countries' citizens have obtained Afghan passport, Rabbani said Afghan nationals must provide a bank statement and medical documents in order to obtain a visa for India.
This comes after the Afghan citizens faced a similar issue in the UAE last year, Khaama press reported.
The issue with UAE reportedly emerged with the issuance of the new electronic Afghan passports amid concerns that the citizens of the other countries misused the country's passports.
However, the issue was later resolved as an agreement was reached between the two countries to improve the information quality of the newly issued e-passports.
