Walcott, Gordon to lead T&T campaign in Athletics Worlds

Reigning Olympic javelin champion Keshorn Walcott and defending 400 metres hurdles champion Jehue Gordon are among 21 athletes selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the World Championships in Beijing later this month.

Gordon is also part of the 4x400 metres squad while Walcott recently added the Pan American Games title to his list of accomplishments, CMC reported on Wednesday.

Keston Bledman will lead the charge for T&T in the men's 100 metres dash after triple Olympic silver medallist Richard Thompson was ruled out for the rest of the season with an injury.

T&T is expected to have strong representation in the men's 400 metres with four quarter milers posting sub 45 seconds times this season -- Machel Cedenio, Deon Lendore, Lalonde Gordon and Renny Quow.

Kelly-Ann Baptiste and Michelle-Lee Ahye will lead T&T's campaign in the women's 100 metres.

Quadruple Olympic medallist Ato Boldon will be part of the T&T coaching staff in Beijing.
